As some of you might have noticed on twitter, I have been working on a design project most of last week. The goal was for me to do something other than coding or writing reports and use the creative side of my mind. I decided to make myself a visual resume and here is the end result.

Let me know what you think about it. Also, if you spot any errors/typos, do let me know (I am not the best at spelling when I was doing this at a rather ungodly hour)

I also have it available in pdf

I plan to print this on a 11 x 17 bi-fold sheet and have my “normal” resume on the back side with a simple cover on the front in time for the career fairs. Lets see if whether this gets me a job (or gets me kicked out of the room).

The Mashable/Regator mixer on Thursday is probably one of the best parties of the year. A lot of nice as well as new people in a fun and relaxed environment. And not to mention the great after party.

I was very happy to meet a lot of new people including but not limited to Courtenay Bird, Russell jurney, Chris Morrell and of course the entire gang from Mashable. I also got the time to catch up with people I had met earlier that week at the StartupChicks afterparty (Yup! I actually got invited as a Friend of Chicks) such as Jen Bonnett, Shannon Hubbell, Celia Dyer and Kristin Colier among others. I was also glad to meet some people after a pretty long hiatus including Sig Mosley, Tim Dorr and Jason Ardell. Not a list of everyone I met, but not intended to be one.

Anyways, I made a small video of the highlights of the night. check it out below. The last clip is probably the best, #courtenaybot accepting that she might be a robot.

Life at Tech never seems to get boring. Probably the most interesting thing to happen to me in the last week was my CS 1050 class last Thursday. I walked into the class to realize way too many people were talking at the same time. It took me a minute to realize that they students were trying to cash in on Dr. Ellen Zegura’s promise of one class to be held outdoors. Though in the end, Ellen decided to stay in due to the lack of a white board, she had to excuse herself to visit the rest room 5 minutes into the class.

It was at this point that Jared Fry (Fry boy as I like to refer to him after a year in Hall Council together) and I decided to find a white board on wheels. We soon found this in the storage closet with help from the facilities people and returned to class 5 minutes later towing a white board much to the surprise and amusement of both the Students and the Professor. What can I say? I live to amuse.

The class soon moved out into the grass outside the Klaus building.

Only thing I can say is that this change of setting was refreshing and shows that our prof are truly ready to try new things. It was indeed a success. No one got sick or anything and the weather was great. I even learned some interesting stuff about IP Addresses.
